We have enjoyed the support of the Townsville Hospital Foundation for a number of years and have found the emotional, financial and practical investment they provide invaluable to our staff and our patients.

As well as sourcing funding for additional equipment and maintaining the relationships that enable this support, the Hospital Foundation Team regularly dedicate their time to planning unique visits to distract and entertain our children during their stay in Hospital.

In January 2005 Xstrata entered into a Community Partnership Program initiative with the Townsville Hospital Foundation covering 2005-2007. This partnership supplied vital equipment for the Emergency Department at the Townsville Hospital.

We believe that the Townsville Hospital Foundation as a non-profit, charitable organisation to providing the extras that make a difference within the Townsville Health District is achieving its aims. To date our dealings with the Foundation have been most professional and successful.

I have worked closely with the Townsville Hospital Foundation over the past year. During this time I have been witness to the great work that this small team have achieved and the delight and relief they have bought to hospital patients and members of the Townsville community. The work they do it truly inspiring and dedicated and I look forward to a continued relationship with the Foundation.

We have recently had the opportunity to work with the Townsville Hospital Foundation to provide an extra level of comfort to our patients as they progress through Cancer Treatment.

Together with the Pimlico Symphony Orchestra the Foundation organised a charity concert for the benefit of funding our soon to be completed Teenage Retreat and, more recently they co-managed a project to provide a stunning mural now occupying a previously dull patio area within the Townsville Hospital Cancer Centre.

It is hoped that through these projects the Townsville Hospital Foundation will help us to restore a sense of peace and tranquility during difficult times.
