

The Townsville Foundation is governed by an independent Board of Directors which is responsible for all of the activities of the Foundation and determines policy matters and strategic direction. Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor-in-Council upon the recommendation of the Minister for Health for terms of three years.
Made up of industry leaders and health professionals, the Board operates in compliance with the Hospitals' Foundations Act , and includes following representatives:

Judge Stuart Durward SC is a Judge of the District Court of Queensland.
He has been Chairman of the Townsville Hospital Foundation since 1992.
He was, in a voluntary capacity, Chairman of the Northern Regional Health Authority (including The Townsville Hospital and 16 other hospitals and health facilities)from 1991 to 1995. He has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Townsville Grammar School since 1997, the inaugural Chairman of The Grammar Schools of Queensland Association and is a LTCOL in the ADF Legal Service. He is a graduate member of the AICD.
Currently Director of Anaesthesia and previously also Director of Intensive Care, Vic has been on the staff of TTH since 1975 and a member of the Foundation Board since 1991. He has served on many hospital management committees and has an intimate knowledge of the Hospital, its departments , staff and needs. He is a past chairman of Townsville QATB, Australian Resuscitation Council, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Queensland Committee and CPR 2000. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia for service to medicine and Surf Lifesaving in North Queensland
Errol brings to the Foundation Board a lifetime's experience of financial and analytical analysis in addition to significant legal and general managerial skills gained whilst working in private industry. Errol's previous experience in the position of company secretary and Group Accountant for the former Telecasters North Queensland holds him in good stead to offer The Townsville Hospital Foundation Board the benefit of his financial and managerial acumen.
Since her days as the former first female president of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce, Fay has held Directorship roles within successful private enterprise and on local cultural organisations' boards. Fay has also held office as a Townsville City Councillor before joining the Townsville Hospital Foundation's board in June 2005.
Jennie is employed by Queensland Health as a Human Resource Coordinator within the Townsville Hospital Pathology Service. In addition to serving on the Foundation Board, Jennie takes an active role in Soroptomist International activity.
A qualified primary school teacher, Louise made the transition to private enterprise in 1983 to co-manage a successful chain of chemist businesses. Louise has actively participated in a range of volunteering roles and fundraising campaigns for various organisations and is a valuable member of the Townsville Hospital Foundation Board.

Emeritus Professor Barbara Hayes joined James Cook University in 1989 as head of the school of Nursing Sciences from 1989-1997 and Professor of Nursing Sciences from 1989. Barbara has received several accolades over the course of her career, and was most recently awarded an order of Australia medal for her contribution to education. In addition to offering the Foundation the benefit of her knowledge in clinical nursing, midwifery, paediatric and mental health issues, Barbara continues to mentor university students through their research.

Tom Cummins is a registered builder and present day Managing Director of the NPM Group and Northern Projects Fiji Limited. Starting his career as a second generation builder, Tom has since been involved in the design and development of a number of new Townships and has a wide experience in a number of general constuction and civil works for Government and corporate clients alike. Tom brings to the Townsville Hospital Foundation the benefit of his project leadership and knowledge of the local business community.
Dominique is a practising commercial and property lawyer in the local Townsville community with admissions to the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia. Dominique is actively involved in Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Support (SANDS) and provides pro bono legal assistance to Food Relief North Queensland.
Margaret has 22 years of senior nursing experience, and 15 years of managerial experience gained whilst running a successful SME. She is a qualified domestic violence facilitator, Justice of the Peace and has extensive expertise in business management. Margaret has an extensive involvement in a range of research, education, education changes, social justice, humanitarian pursuits and has been an active board member for a number of community service groups.
Margaret is passionate about improving the lives of others. She is also a member of the Health Community Council and is a representative for both the council on the Townsville Consumers Committee, and the Townsville Hospital Foundation.
Margaret has 22 years of senior nursing experience, and 15 years of managerial experience gained whilst running a successful SME . She has an extensive involvement in a range of humanitarian pursuits and various community groups to improve the lives of others. Margaret also sits on the Health Community Council and the Private Schools Board.
